Modesto is served by Amtrak. The city is serviced by the San Joaquin Line, which runs north to the Bay Area or Sacramento and south to Bakersfield. • Highway 219- It lies to the north of Modesto and offers access to the foothills and Oakdale.
• State Route 108- It is also called as McHenry Avenue and runs south and north through the center of Modesto. SR 108 intersects several main streets in Modesto as well as Hwy 219.

MAX connects to other public transit services and regions. Transfers include Amtrak, Ceres Area Transit (CAT), BART (Bay Area), ACE Train (Bay Area), and Ceres Dial-A-Ride, Stanislaus Regional Transit (StaRT), Riverbank-Oakdale Transit Authority (ROTA).  

The Modesto Area Express also has 2 main transportation hubs connecting local and regional transit systems.
